A woman sits between two enormous tapestries inside an art museum.

"Peg's photography breaks the laws of physics. Using a round lens to create square pictures, she somehow captures a two-dimensional object in one place at one nanosecond in time revealing an eternal truth about a three-dimensional world—or the exact opposite, depicting a unique subject never seen."

ERIC-VALENTINE LEINS | Writer-Storyteller, TRUE STORY

"I LOVE WHAT THE SKIES PUT BEFORE MY EYES!"

Meet Peg Owens

As I recall, famed French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson spoke of the importance of "the decisive moment" in his work. What drew me to photography was the fact that one has to be there, emerge from their shell. Relocating from New Orleans to California in a 1971 VW bug, I went to Brooks Institute of Photography before my career diverted me into being a film commissioner and tourism marketing professional. Now retired, my love of travel keeps me searching for new exquisite subjects in both landscapes and experiences, especially national parks. Photography allows—requires, actually—one to travel. You have to BE THERE!

Earth Rotations

It was a blessing to donate one's time and talent for a worthy cause. I spent a few years photographing cancer patients seeing their new bedrooms from the charity My Happy Haven. (Has not continued.)

Earth Rotations

Otherwise known as sunrises and sunsets, I think of these as earth rotations. It is the Earth that revolves, not the sun. I adore the quiet of sunrise when few people are around.  I love what the skies put before my eyes.

Filtered Fun

Trained prior to the digital era, Peg learned her craft on a 4 x 5 camera, with only black and white at first. She now uses her Canon camera and an iPhone for photography, then edits with as many as three software programs.

Peg studied first with only B & W, then color exploded and now she has fun with digital imagery. Software with filters is on phones, but Peg goes further, often using three different software programs to achieve her results.

Flowers

Flowers

As an avid gardener and traveler, Peg is drawn to wildflowers and her own spring blooms, often exploring filters in post-production. Work kept her busy in summer so she mostly prefers spring and fall travel.

Idaho

As the film commissioner for Idaho for 26 years, Peg is well-traveled around the state that she has called home for almost four decades. Take a tour around the beautiful state of Idaho with Pegasus Productions.

Nesting & Greeting Cards

Nesting Cards are sets of 7 blank themed greeting cards that all nest together. Peg created 16 themed sets for this idea by Jana Kemp. Then continued with small groups.

Be it working with models, people-watching in Paris or photographing friends and family, Peg enjoys working with people, or even just observing them from a distance.

A passionate traveler, Peg shares her favorites from the Louvre in Paris (above) to London's Hyde Park, to beautiful Barcelona and all over America, from New England to the Southwest.

A 10 min. video directed by Peg when Idahoans sought Medicaid expansion (achieved in 2020).  Done with the 2018 i48 Documentary Challenge. Thank you to all of my volunteers!

Peruse images created early in my career, in the late 1970s to early 1980s. Portraits and such. With a couple of surprises at the end, like an event with actress Debra Winger.

Beginning a few years ago, Peg began to travel to America's national parks. Memories of Yosemite from years ago, of course. Recent years have included from east to west.
